Couples Counseling in Denver, CO
Many couples go through seasons of feeling distant, stuck in conflict, or unsure how to find their way back to each other. It’s not uncommon to feel like you’re having the same arguments over and over, or that the closeness you once shared feels harder to reach.
Couples counseling offers a supportive space to slow down, be heard, and begin practicing new ways of communicating and connecting. Together, we can work on rebuilding trust, navigating conflict, and strengthening the foundation of your relationship. Therapy can help you and your partner feel more understood, create healthier patterns, and reestablish the bond that brought you together in the first place.
THE PREPARE/ENRICH MODEL FOR COUPLES
I am trained in the Prepare/Enrich model, the most widely researched approach to couples counseling. This model is designed to help couples gain a deeper understanding of their relationship, strengthen areas that are working well, and address patterns and themes that feel stuck or disconnected.
The process begins with each partner completing a personalized online assessment. This assessment looks at many areas of your relationship, such as communication, conflict resolution, intimacy, family dynamics, and shared values.
From there, we use the assessment results as a roadmap for our sessions together. You’ll receive tailored feedback, tangible tools, and dialogue designed to build connection and improve skills. Whether you’re hoping to strengthen your relationship, prepare for marriage, or work through ongoing struggles, Prepare/Enrich provides a structure that supports lasting growth.
Many of the stories we carry about love, trust, and conflict are shaped long before we enter into an adult relationship. Couples counseling helps unpack influences of childhood experiences, such as family dynamics, cultural messages, or early relationships—and notice how they may still be shaping the way you see yourself and your partner today.
MY APPROACH
Relationships carry both the joys of connection and the weight of past experiences. Each couple brings their own history, goals, and challenges into the relationship, which is why I draw from several approaches to support lasting change.
The structure of Prepare/Enrich offers a clear path for growth, where Narrative Therapy helps to uncover and rewrite the stories that influence how you and your partner connect and communicate in your relationship. Internal Family Systems (IFS) adds depth by helping you both understand the different parts of yourselves that show up in the relationship, making space for greater compassion and closeness. Together, these modalities create a flexible, supportive framework to help you strengthen your relationship, navigate challenges, and build the connection you truly want.
